Online Therapy in California for BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ Adults

FAQs

What is your clinical training?

I earned a M.S. in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy and I am licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with training in EMDR, EFT, DBT, TFCBT, Somatic Experiencing and am IFS informed. I integrate various clinical training along with an intuitive, compassionate, person-centered approach to craft your individualized therapeutic support.

What makes therapy with you different from other therapists?

My clinical training in trauma and anxiety coupled with my intuitive gifts and lived experience as a sensitive person of color shape my unique treatment approach.

I believe many anxiety and depression symptoms develop from unresolved emotional wounds and trauma, sometimes inherited or directly experienced. This is why I use intuition with somatic experiencing to shift trauma healing into the body while creating a compassionate space to process your experiences with loving curiosity.

I know first hand how important representation in your therapy support truly is. If you are looking to experience how reparative therapy with a compassionate, therapist of color can be, reach out to schedule a consultation now.

What will my first therapy session be like?

I want to acknowledge that if you are nervous- it is totally normal and understandable!

Our first therapy session will start with informed consent about confidentiality, and information about policies, including a 24-hour cancellation notice. My therapy style encourages your insight and communication of preferences to set up a compassionate, mutually respectful therapeutic space where you are seen as an equal, where you inform your experience without assumptions. I find this structure is especially important when supporting people from marginalized groups, such as those identifying in LGBTQIA+ community and my fellow BIPOC.

How long will I need therapy for?

The length of support depends on multiple factors. Your input on frequency and how long we work together is important to me. There are some people who benefit from long-term weekly therapy support and others who, after working together for a year or so, I meet 1-2x per month or we meet for support as needed.

As we progress towards your goals, I encourage you to share with me your thoughts on progress, if your needs for frequency of support changes, and we will together determine the right level of support for you, including how long therapy may be helpful for you.

Do you work with people outside of California?

I am licensed as a marriage and family therapist in California so am unable to provide therapy services to residents of other states. As a telehealth provider, I am able to meet with clients throughout the state of California.
